Deactivate a user

Remove someone's access when they leave, without losing their history.

When someone leaves your team or no longer needs Bricks, deactivate their account. Deactivating turns off their access but keeps their history: the service requests they worked, the notes they posted, and the time they tracked all stay on the record.

Before you deactivate

Open the user's page and check the Open Work tab. Anything still assigned to them has no one working it once they're gone. Reassign that work first so nothing gets missed.

Steps: deactivate from the user page

  1. Go to Admin → Users and click the person's name.
  2. Check Open Work and reassign anything still open.
  3. Click Options (top right) and choose Deactivate.
  4. Type deactivate in the confirmation box to confirm.

Steps: deactivate from the Users table

  1. Go to Admin → Users.
  2. Click the ⋯ next to the person's name.
  3. Choose Deactivate.
  4. Type deactivate in the confirmation box to confirm.

Find deactivated users later

On the Users page, click Columns and turn on Deactivated at, or use Filters → Deactivated at to list accounts deactivated in a given date range.

Tip: Deactivate rather than reuse. Don't change a departing employee's name and email to hand the account to their replacement; that mixes two people's history on one record. Create a new user for the new person instead.
