Import equipment, locations, users, and parts

Add or update records in bulk from a CSV file.

Customer Organization Admins only. Open Admin → Import.

Import lets you add many records at once, or update existing ones, from a spreadsheet saved as CSV. It's a four-step process: Select Entity → Upload → Preview → Import.

Step 1: Choose what you're importing

Pick one: Equipment, Location, User, or Part.

Step 2: Get the template and upload

  1. Click Download [type] Template and fill it in. Always start from the template so the columns match.
  2. To create new records, leave the ID column blank.
  3. To update existing records, enter the ID of each record you want to change. For equipment and parts, click Export [type] Data to download your current records with their IDs, edit that file, and upload it.
  4. Choose where the records go (the options depend on the type; see below).
  5. Click Upload.

Step 3: Preview

Check what Bricks is about to create or change before anything is saved.

Step 4: Import

Confirm to run the import.

Options by type

Equipment

  • Select Organization: Single Organization, or Multiple Organizations (every row then needs a valid Organization ID).
  • Select Location: Single Location, or Multiple Locations (every row then needs a valid Location ID). Use Location ID Lookup to find IDs.
  • Empty Field Handling (updates only): when a cell is blank, choose Skip to keep the existing value, or Clear to set the field to blank. New records aren't affected.

Location

  • Select Organization: Single Organization or Multiple Organizations.

User

  • Select Organization: Single Organization or Multiple Organizations.
  • To add a user to an existing location, enter its Location Id and leave the other location fields blank. To create a new location for the user, leave Location Id blank and fill in the other location fields.

Part

  • Cost is in dollars (for example, 12.50). Quantity, Stock Threshold, and Max Quantity are whole numbers.
  • Blank cells leave existing values unchanged. They can't be used to clear a value.
  • Storage location: choose Same storage location for every row and pick a Storeroom, or Storage location from each row's Location Id column. If you pick one storeroom for every row, the Location Id column is ignored.
  • Delete any aisle or bay divider rows before uploading.

Check past imports

Click View Recent Import Results on the first Import screen. Each entry shows the date, what was imported, who ran it, the file name, how many records went through, and how long it took.

Tip: Try a small file of two or three rows first. Once the preview looks right, import the rest.
