Use the Work View (For Technicians)

A technician's home base for assigned jobs, available work, and the clock that tracks it.

  • Work is the first item in the left navigation and the technician's home base. Everything you need sits on one screen: the jobs assigned to you, other work you can pick up, a way to search, and a way to start something new.

Work isn't a separate system. It's the same service requests admins manage from Service → Service Requests, seen through a lens built for someone standing in front of the equipment. Two things make it different:

    • It's built for a phone. One column of large tap targets, with an action bar pinned to the bottom of the screen.
    • It runs a clock. Starting a job checks you in and starts a timer that follows you around the app until you check out. Nothing in the Service Requests table does that.

    Steps:

    1. Click Work at the top of the left navigation.
    2. Review Suggested Work at the top — a prioritized feed of jobs Bricks thinks you should pick up next. Highest Priority always shows.
    3. Click More Suggestions to reveal the other buckets, such as Near Me. The link becomes Less Suggestions to collapse them again.
    4. Check your Work List in the middle of the screen. It defaults to Assigned Work — the open requests assigned to you. Use the dropdown on the right to switch to any List you've favorited.
    5. Click a job card to open its preview and decide whether to take it. Opening a preview doesn't start anything.

    What's on a job card

    Each card shows:

    • The request title and its SR number
    • A priority chip on the right — Critical, Medium, and so on
    • The location, as a link that opens the location record
    • The equipment, when the request is tied to an asset

    The bottom bar

Three buttons stay pinned to the bottom of every Work screen:

    • Tasks — returns you to the Work screen. On a job screen, this is how you get back to the list without ending the job.
    • Search — opens a small search box that filters the Work List you're currently viewing.
    • Create — opens a menu with Create work and Quick start.

    A few behaviors worth knowing

    • The Work List shows five requests at a time. When there are more, a Show all button appears next to Advanced Search; it becomes Show Less once expanded.
    • The Work List dropdown resets to Assigned Work when you reload the screen. Reselect your List each session.
    • Suggested Work is unaffected by which List you choose — it always draws from everything available to you.
    • When your queue empties you'll see You're all caught up! No more service requests available at this time, with a 1 Completed chip in the top-right counting what you finished in that session.

The green banner is your safety net. While you're checked in, a green bar sits across the top of every screen in Bricks showing the job name and a live timer. Click the › at the end to jump straight back to the job. It disappears the moment you check out or complete the job — which makes it the fastest way to spot a timer you forgot to stop.
