Change the location or equipment on a Service Request

Point an existing request at the right asset or place without recreating it.

A request is sometimes submitted against the wrong asset — a resident picks the nearest QR code, a dispatcher selects the wrong unit, or the problem turns out to be a different piece of equipment than first reported. You don't need to cancel the request and start over. Use Change Location/Equipment from the Options menu to reassign it in place.

The request keeps its number, notes, photos, costs, and history. Only the location and equipment it's tied to change.

Steps:

  1. Open Service → Service Requests and click the request's Number to open it.
  2. Click Options in the top-right corner of the request.
  3. Select Change Location/Equipment from the dropdown.
  4. Select the location where the equipment lives.
  5. Select the equipment at that location.
  6. Click Continue to save.

The request's Location and Equipment panels update immediately, and the change is recorded in the request's history.

Choose the location first. The equipment list is filtered by the location you pick, so a piece of equipment won't appear until its location is selected. If you can't find the asset, confirm which location it's assigned to under Equipment — or move it there first. See Edit a piece of equipment.

Tip: Changing the equipment can change who the request routes to. If your organization uses dispatch routing rules or provider coverage by location, re-check the Dispatched to field after the change so the request still lands with the right technician or provider.
